Carnival Vista Redfrog Pub & Brewery

Didja know? Carnival Cruise Line’s brand newest beauty, Carnival Vista, which is scheduled to make her debut in May 2016, will hand-craft Beers, brewing them directly on the cruise ship!

CCL_Vista Pub_Brewery

As per Carnival Cruise Line:

When you raise a pint in the RedFrog Pub & Brewery on the Carnival Vista, you will have a choice of three distinctly flavored hand-crafted beers brewed right onboard in Carnival’s first brewery at sea! Carnival Cruise Line has partnered with Miami, FL based Concrete Beach Brewery to create three original recipes by sourcing and selecting the finest ingredients so their cruise guests will have the opportunity to enjoy:

ThirstyFrog Port Hoppin’ IPA: Offering aromatic, floral and hoppy notes with passion fruit and citrus overtones
ThirstyFrog Caribbean Wheat: An unfiltered lager with aromas of bananas and spices
FriskyFrog Java Stout: A take on a traditional stout, rich and creamy with hints of coffee

We can’t wait for you to try them out!

The beers to be featured on Carnival Vista further build upon a greatly expanded selection of craft beers across our entire fleet. Our ships based in the U.S. already serve Concrete Beach Brewery’s Rica Wheat IPA, Angel City Brewery’s Pilsner, Coney Island’s Hard Root Beer and 1609 Amber. Our ships sailing from Miami feature Concrete Beach Stiltsville Miami-style Pilsner, while Long Beach, CA based ships offer Angel City Brewery IPA and cruises departing from New York City are stocked with Coney Island Mermaid Pilsner.

Carnival will also offer beers brewed either locally in homeports or within the homeport state on ships sailing from New Orleans, Galveston, Baltimore and Tampa, as well as ships that sail to Alaska and Hawaii.

More of what else you can expect to enjoy while sailing on Carnival Vista; Cruise guests can indulge in other Fun Ship 2.0 favorite poolside eateries and bars including Guy’s Burger Joint, featuring award-winning burgers and hand-cut fries created by chef and author Guy Fieri, and BlueIguana Cantina™, featuring freshly made tacos and burritos. Poolside bars BlueIguana Tequila Bar™ and RedFrog Rum Bar™ will also provide innovative cocktail options, as will the mixologists at the cocktail pharmacy-themed Alchemy Bar.

Just one last “side-note” mention about another new experience to enjoy while sailing on Carnival Vista is the new stateroom category: Tropics-inspired Havana Cabanas, which will feature suites with private outdoor patios – complete with lounge chairs and hammock that face the expanded Lanai ocean-air outdoor promenade and offer magnificent sea views in addition to easy access to the Havana Bar and Pool (All Havana stateroom guests must be 12 or older.)

Havana Cabana stateroom guests must be 12 or older.

Carnival Vista will debut May 1, 2016, with a 13-day cruise departing from Trieste, Italy – the first European voyage for Carnival in three years! A variety of spectacular Mediterranean itineraries will be offered with port calls throughout Italy, France, Spain, Croatia and Turkey, as well as several new destinations for Carnival such as Crete (Heraklion), and Corfu, Greece; Valletta, Malta; Palermo, Sicily; Cagliari, Sardinia; and Gibraltar.

Mid-East Coast Cruisers have easier access to Carnival’s Fun ships thanks to Norfolk, Va.

I had the pleasure of attending one of Carnival Cruise Line’s luncheon and ship inspection gatherings held for Travel Professional’s a couple of weeks ago in Norfolk, Virgina. Here are a few highlights:

Half Moone Cruise Port Norfolk

Saturday, May 16, 2015: Carnival Splendor cruise ship, just recently docked, awaited our arrival as she was being prepped to return to sea at 5pm on a short, 2-night “Cruise to Nowhere”.  Our Carnival Cruise Line sales team had a set agenda and itinerary for us to follow with an anticipated start at 11am with cabin inspections, followed by lunch at 1pm and conclude by 3:30pm.  Well as things happen in life, the schedule got blown off track early on during our embarkation as something went awry with the returning cruiser guests’ debarkation process.  We could not get on the ship until everyone from the prior sailing got off the ship and that didn’t happen until about 12:30pm, which is unusually very late.

Welcome Norfolk 051615

The goal was for us to inspect cabins before the guests occupying those cabins arrived for check-in.  I was able to set foot in a Grand Suite with its full bathroom amenities and extended balcony-(very, very nice), and an Ocean Suite as well as a Balcony stateroom.  I missed out on viewing the Premium Wrap around Balcony Stateroom and the Spa Suite as the guests had arrived and were already in their cabins when we got to the door. We felt a little rushed at this point, not able to take good pictures as there were too many travel agents roaming in and out throughout each cabin as we were all trying to hurry to the next one before the guests arrived to lock us out. 😦  I was a little disappointed about that but, oh well.  Like I said earlier, things happen.

Lunch was great and the Travel Professionals group had about 45 minutes after lunch to explore the rest of the ship on our own before the 3:30pm deadline to exit the ship.  I decided a few weeks earlier that my family (Hubby & 2 teens) and I would try the 2-night “Cruise to Nowhere” since we were in Norfolk for the Carnival lunch/inspection so I didn’t feel slighted by the time crunch. I knew I would be meeting up with my family when the lunch was over and staying onboard to explore the rest of the ship over the weekend.

The drive from my corner of Central North Carolina to the Half Moone Cruise Port and Celebration Center in Norfolk, VA took approximately 3.5 hrs.  My adult daughter came from the Charlotte area early-early that morning to take the drive with us in another car with her BFF.  We are in the midst of her Destination Cruise Wedding plans for next year so they came along to see if the Norfolk cruise port is a doable option and it is.  Both vehicles left together at about 5:45am to arrive in downtown Norfolk at about 10am.  This includes a 30 minute breakfast stop when we reached the Portsmouth area right outside of town.

Here is what we can look forward to for sailing from the Half Moone Cruise Port in Norfolk for the remainder of 2015 and 2016 cruising season from Carnival Cruises: **UPDATE as of June 12, 2015**

Thanks for the new WiFi@Sea Carnival, BUT…..

Thanks Carnival Cruise Lines, we do appreciate your efforts -BUT- many of us are just hoping that with this new WiFi@Sea wireless network that you have introduced on your ships for your passenger guests, will not also come any exorbitant fees attached in order to access it.

Not having reliable internet access in this day and age can actually be the tipping point to making for a not so great travel experience.  I really wish more Hotels and Resorts, including the floating ones (Cruiseships) would understand that.  “Unplugging” while on Vacation should be a personal choice and not forced upon us because the internet service is weak/too slow or that it costs too much to access it everyday.

Again, Thanks Carnival, I do think we are moving in the right direction with this new WiFi@Sea wireless network.  Now if we could finally get more #Free Wireless access when we Hotel and/or Cruise vacay, all would be right in the world,…of #Travel anyway! – TLC -aka- NCTina
